Mardi Gras Rhino

Mardi Gras near and i wanted to make something festive to compliment an upcoming dinner party. I found this really cute Wall Zoo animal at JoAnn's that looked perfect to recreate the feeling of being on Bourbon Street.

Using Folk Art Extreme Glitter Acrylic Paint and a paint brush, I covered each piece of the rhino with two coats.

After the paint finished drying, I started to assemble the rhino according to the instructions. I added a cutout from DCWV's multi-use adhesive jeweled sheet for the headboard of the rhino.
Using other textures and colors of paper, I traced alongside the cutoff's and used Blue Dots to attach each piece. For the glitter paper, I removed a cutout to make room and slid it in the core of rhino.

For additional Mardi Gras flair I added beads, chain and flatbacks from Blue Moon Beads to put the finishing touches on the rhino with hot glue.

Using a piece of ribbon, I added the Mardi Gras Rhino to an old door frame and continued with a few additional decorations with May Arts Ribbon and DCWV's Premium Paper.

What do you think of my Mardi Gras decorations?

Fall Wall Art

I found this piece of wood fence the other day and thought it would be perfect for a fun fall project. Using DCWV's burlap and fall stack, you will find lots of colors and textures to work with.

Using a decoupage technique, I covered the fence post with a few layers of paper! DCWV's fall stack offers so many different prints and textures.

Using coordinating colored paper and burlap, I created flowers to decorate the fence. Here is a great You Tube video to learn how to make paper flowers! Paper Flower You Tube Video.
I used a few different types of Blue Moon Beads to add glitz to the flowers. For the center of the flowers, I mixed it up between round gold beads and burlap. Throughout the fence, I added flat gold disc beads with a lace texture too. This was such a fun project to welcome fall into my home!!

Duel Birthdays With Fabulous DIY Decor!

This weekend we celebrated dual birthdays. Rod & Dana, husband and wife, hosted an at-home celebration for their immediate family. In order to make their dining room look and feel like a party, I relied on celebrity party planner David Tutera to help make the party pop! Using products from David Tutera Casual Elegance, available exclusively at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, I transformed the dining room into a party room!

For a creative personalized centerpiece, I reused empty champagne bottles, removed the labels and rinsed them out. I filled each bottle with sand, glued burlap to the bottle and added flowers to the bottle. The mini chalkboard was a great finishing touch!

David Tutera has these cute paper lanterns that can easily be suspended from the ceiling with hemp cord and a few pieces of tape. Another great item from his line are the pre-printed cards. I suspended the numbers 5 and 3 from the lanterns, adding another personal element to the decor.

Every good party has favors! David Tutera has many options to choose from, adding another layer of fabulousness to the party decorations. I added decorative lace and hemp to the baskets for the perfect amount of charm. Each favor had a different type of candy inside.

A few other finishing touches that made this party table pop were the cute burlap bows I tied to each chair and the decorative butterfly napkin rings.

Doesn't this table look fabulous? I can't wait for the next birthday party so I can use more products from David Tutera Casual Elegance to bring the event up a few notches!
